I heard a semi-decent argument on the other side of this debate, some guy said "well if all these videos weren't free, on the net, I wouldn't know about half these companies. Also I wouldn't be half as motivated to go out and ride and break stuff and thus have to buy new parts." Not quite spot-on but you get the idea.
