Looking, shaking, riding. Nick Photos.

The Last One:

Where / what would you like to ride most?
I want to do a big long road trip of the states, for about 6 months, to ride all the famous spots, and see America. Brooklyn banks, Mt. Baldy, Kona, the Woodwards, everywhere. Would also love to hit Vancouver and some of Canada’s other spots. The Seylyn snakerun, I have to ride that thing. I’m not sure how I’d ever be able to afford it though. Other than that I’d like to ride Marseille, some of the German parks look really fun, and obviously Barca street. And more trails, big ones.

If you could have one trick, what would it be?
It’s a toss-up between whips, bars, and threes, (and maybe turndowns and tables). I think being able to 360 big doubles is still the coolest thing ever, as well as drops and spines, so probably threes.

What’s the best song, or use of a song, in a BMX video you’ve seen?
I love the music on Roadfools 11, Roadfools 7 and Forward. True and the Sprung videos were classics. However, I’m not sure I could nail it down to one single song.
Recently I’m loving the music on Lotek Vancouver. BMX videos are definitely a big influence on my taste in music.

If you were to have a full-length video section, what song would you chose to accompany it?
I could agonise over this forever. I’d like it to be something by a very select group of artists; Daniel Johns, Elvis Costello, and maybe Donald Fagen or Joe Jackson. It’s doubtful whether any of them would be appropriate though.
However, I could be happy with a lot of songs from loads of different bands, as long as I was pleased with the riding. Music selection would probably be something I’d be more able to object to, rather than suggest. Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance can get fucked though.

Besides their riding, which riders do you admire and why?
Steve Crandall seems like a really funny guy, reminds me of Exeter Tom. Everything Rich Hirsh is involved with seems to be really well done; Lotek, Goods, Odyssey, etc, so I admire him for doing things well. Riders like Freimuth, Osato, Miron, Hoffman, I’ll always respect because of the commitment and sacrifices they’ve made for BMX. The concept of a man, well into his 30s, (Osato excepted) still doing the best stuff is really awesome. Van Homan for creating the best video part yet. And also, Enns is a fucking ledge.

Who has the best style in BMX?
Eddie Cleveland has the best style on street I think, everything looks so effortless and text. Other than that, obviously Bestwick on vert. Layos, Aitken, Bohan, Edgworth, and Hardy, are all supremely stylish on park and dirt. Best tables? Gotta be Inman

What is your biggest fear, related to BMX?
Damaging my knees, or my back. Never landing a tailwhip. Never 360ing a dirt double.

What’s your next banger? What have you got your eyes on?
I really like the look of the Guildford handrail, and doing a rail on real street is something that appeals to me. Other than that I’d love to take footjam tailwhips to banks. A barspin air on a quarter would also be cool.

BMX in the Olympics; good or bad?
I don’t really see how it could have a really negative impact on the sport. I don’t think BMX is an Olympic sport, but I think it would be interesting. It’s always going to be fairly peripheral; most people would probably ignore it.

What were your riding highlights of 2006? What are your goals for 2007?
Pulling my first flatland whip was a very happy moment. Learning barspins is something I’m also pretty happy with. Riding trails (albeit relatively shit ones) with Will and Cam and Neil again was good.

I’d like to ride as much as possible in 2007, and stay injury-free, as much as possible. Doing a handrail on real street, and establishing some trails I’m happy with would be two major goals. Maybe riding abroad as well. Keeping Fleetscene going, shooting decent photographs, clocking some footy, it’s all fun.

Describe your worst crash.
My worst crash was probably when I was trying to learn turndowns over a double at Velmead #2. I was turning towards my front foot, (classic error) got most of the way into a turndown and stayed that way. I smashed my head into the dirt, and remember coming to with a mouth full of dirt, having no idea what day it was. Not a very bad “worst crash” at all really, I’ve been lucky, either that or I’ve been a total pussy. The crash that got me on bmxonline was fairly impressive, the spine 180 fuckup, but that didn’t really do anything too permanent.

Do you really push yourself to progress, or are you just happy to ride and not worry about it too much?
When I’m riding new places I’m generally not bothered about progression. When you ride the same place on a regular basis though, I don’t think you can so the same stuff without getting bored. It’s not something I worry about, but learning new stuff is very satisfying, and spurs you on to ride more, and learn more. That said, I have been know to get a little irate from time to time, normally when I’m riding stupidly or I’m trying something and getting nowhere. Hasn’t happened in a while though.

Parts: new and radical or simple and trusted?
Most of the stuff on my bike is fairly simple. I don’t really think there are that many genuinely radical, innovative parts in BMX; things like Kevlar tyres have been around for ages. Ideally my bike would be a bit lighter though. My next one will have push fit stuff.

What is BMX / What does BMX mean to you?
BMX is something that has been a constant in my life for several years. I don’t think I go a day without thinking about BMX, I always check the major bmx websites, always read Ride cover to cover, BMX is as much a part of my life as breathing or eating. There were times at uni when I barely rode, and wondered if I was beginning to give up BMX, but it never happened, thankfully. BMX is just something I do, and can’t imagine not doing. It’s a creative outlet, a form of escapism, a bit of exercise, something most don’t understand, and I like it that way.

What the best thing you’ve ever done on a bike?
I don’t know how well I can judge my own riding… the few 540s I’ve pulled were probably a highlight. 360ing Farnborough’s spine is something I’m quite proud of. When I land a flip on something that doesn’t squidge, that’ll be special. I was really stoked about getting through the big 13MX guys’ four pack, those jumps were easily the biggest and most scary I’ve ridden. So yeah, something in that group of things, probably.

What is your favourite memory of riding?
Memories of Velmead, Hawley, and Tweseldown trails. Starting fires, digging holes, building jumps, riding, buying milkshake and pasties from Tesco express, blowing up gas canisters, smoking pot, learning my first tricks, making friendships that will last forever.
Riding all day, without worrying about anything.
Going on night missions to steal spades. Sleepovers. Everyone wearing bolt and criminal damage jeans. Rosie, Kerry, and Fran coming to the jumps. Lorrie and Linsell jumping out of the Hawley crater, until Lorrie nosedived into the floor spectacularly.
Cam, Will, and Jonny coming up with the funniest stuff. Mud clod wars in Tweseldown. Filming at Velmead with Jonny’s camera. Jumping through fire on top of Tweseldown hill. Going on night missions to steal spades. The smell of woods; pine, dirt, fire.
They will never die.

A little clip from a 21st Birthday I went to on saturday. Will was the birthday boy, and it was held on his farm in Northamptonshire. Marquee with chandeliers, a band, D.J.s, A three-course sit down meal, a free bar, it really was incredibly lavish and great fun. We drank from 7p.m. untill 4a.m.

So it's Beauclair with the lash, Will and Robbo with the banter, and me with the filming. Awesome.

Cranmer, for christ's sake man! Unreal.

Neil McGregor's Fleetscene BMX Questionnaire. Oh yeah.

Where / what would you like to ride most?
Mellowpark (Berlin) trails and skatepark again, Woodward and Vancouver. Different UK spots in succession, roadtrip style would be great too, but if I could ride trails close to where I live I probably wouldn’t ride anything else.

If you could have one trick, what would it be?
360s. They just look cool and are dead versatile. One of those rare tricks that riders appreciate that also look great to outsiders. However I’d also like manuals super consistent on everything – that would save me so much frustration pretty much every time I ride!!

What’s the best song, or use of a song, in a BMX video you’ve seen?
Everything in Forward is pretty ace and fits the riding nice. Spellbound on NFT is radical too. Major props for that section for introducing me to such a great song. But the winner I think is probably the intro song on True (that sample from Lovin’ Spoonful – Summer in the City) just coz it sets the scene for the rest of the vid so well. Nice and memorable too.

If you were to have a full-length video section, what song would you chose to accompany it?
Well at the moment my 3 favourite bands are Interpol, Bloc Party and Hot Chip so something of theirs would be great. The exact song would depend on the editor as I really have no idea what would fit my style. My style is quite gash and all over the place so it might be a movie-makers nightmare. Bloc Party – Hunting For Witches from the new album could be cool.

Besides their riding, which riders do you admire and why?
Hoffman for the size of his balls and ability to come back from some serious injuries and still push it and promote the sport in a positive way after turning 30. Local wise probably Nobin for his style and flow, and Nick for dedication and passion for putting together photos and videos. Ben for setting up Fleetscene and being a douche-bag. Heck, you’re all RAD!

Who has the best style in BMX?
Probably Chase Hawk because he just blasts. For some reason when I ride in shorts and t-shirt I feel the urge to want to ride like him. I obviously fail, but he provides inspiration nonetheless.

What is your biggest fear, related to BMX?
Anything that stops me riding or interferes with other aspects of my life. If I’m gonna do this whole respectable businessman thing after uni then I don’t think visible scars would go down to well. Getting a handlebar to the crotch or something that stops me fathering children would be a tad uncool down the line. No one wants to shoot blanks.

What’s your next banger? What have you got your eyes on?
Would love to 3 a dirt jump. Still feel like the one at Mellowpark trails doesn’t really count as there was no gap invloved.

BMX in the Olympics; good or bad?
Good, because even if it is just racing you’d hope that it has a spillover effect. Like trails and a kickass skatepark next door to Oympic standard race tracks. Plus how much fun do those race tracks they have in the US look?! The jumps are tiny and wide so you can just razz round. Something needs to replace Farnham.

What were your riding highlights of 2006? What are your goals for 2007?
Hmm pretty chuffed with walking away from the M3 trails crash. Probably 180ing both ways and eventually 360ing the Ali Whitton step-up in Manc with Nick. Actually getting the speed and making the step-up was hard enough but spinning it made it easier + ten times more fun. For 2007 I just want to ride more and get more consistent.

Describe your worst crash.
Where to start? Medically I guess it’s Tweseldown 4-pack as I got concussion. Would describe that but I don’t remember it! “ What happened? Have I got a girlfriend…” – what a tool! Otherwise it’s the M3 trails. I really couldn’t get to grips with the curvy roll-in so decided to just roll in straight, but from further up. However I picked the wrong tree, went way too fast, didn’t prepare for take-off and just lost the bike from beneath me. I landed just before the 2nd lip having done that whole flailing arms “I’m flying!” thing from a fair few feet up at high speed. I’m just glad it rained that day so the dirt was more forgiving.

Do you really push yourself to progress, or are you just happy to ride and not worry about it too much?
Well as I haven’t progressed at all recently I guess that’s a no. When I ride something regularly I do try and air it higher and higher the more familiar it gets.

Parts: new and radical or simple and trusted?
Whatever Nick tells me is good/what I need to buy before something snaps on me.

What is BMX / What does BMX mean to you?
A way of life. An eye-opener. An excuse to travel. Being with mates. Excuse for artfag. F-king good fun!

What the best thing you’ve ever done on a bike?
360 at Mellowpark. Hanging up front wheel into the backside of the landing at Fleet Pond and still riding out of it. ‘Double-dongs’ on the volcano.

What is your favourite memory of riding?
Riding Farnborough every day before/after having to work a shitty job and summer days at any mud jumps.

Dig Trails.

(Nicked from prettyshady book, just look at the state of that!)

Ben

Neil breaks riding drought!

Word Fleetscene. Went riding properly for the first time in 6 weeks last night. Beautiful evening, rode many kilometres. Aimed to just blast some airs at a bowl, but got distracted on the way by some rubbish street.

Tiny gap, hopping over a curb/low wall into curb slope. Crap but fun.

Clouds in Australia look so good. Overcast grey skies that are so common at home are rare.

There was a cool sunset. I took a photo:

By the time I got to the bowl it was dark. Blasted a few airs anyway. Got a "Yeahhh" from some boarder. I left happy.

Table air at the now non-existent Winklebury spine mini.

Robin's Fleetscene BMX questionnaire

Where / what would you like to ride most?
Berlin, Vancouver, and Barca. And some sweet jumps.

If you could have one trick, what would it be?
Flairs. They look hecking ace.

What’s the best song, or use of a song, in a BMX video you’ve seen?
This is hard. ‘Diary of a madman’ on Van Homan’s part on criminal mischief, was genius. Also that Jimmy Eat World song for Kris Bennett on Demolition. Heck, basically the whole of the Demolition video has good use of music.

If you were to have a full-length video section, what song would you chose to accompany it?
Always Swan by Twofold.

Besides their riding, which riders do you admire and why?
Fleetscene boys – we’re just wicked. Nick for filming and editing. Ben for riding that massive frame. Jason for doing silly 180s. Neil for living is Australia and saying ridiculous things.

Who has the best style in BMX?
Leo Janson. Where’s the question about your favourite riders in street / park / dirt or whatever? I wanted to write about Stricker / Sergio / Edgworth.

What is your biggest fear, related to BMX?
That I’ll injure myself too badly to ride. Or I’ll break my eyes so I can’t take pictures anymore.

What’s your next banger? What have you got your eyes on?
I want to get twists over spines back on… and learn footplants on walls properly.

BMX in the Olympics; good or bad?
I’m not too fussed, I haven’t really thought about it much.

What were your riding highlights of 2006? What are your goals for 2007?
The Bristol trips. And Fleet Jam. I want to try and crash less in 2007. Oh, already failed that one…

Describe your worst crash.
It didn’t put me out for the longest, but I think this was the most intense fall. Riding my new frame, trying to get 360s over Farnborough volcano smoother. I kept overshooting so I tried pulling up more and going higher, which seemed to help. This one time I pulled up a bit much, hung up the back wheel and sent myself down really fast. I didn’t manage to get my hands off the bars, so just smashed my chin into the ground. Got concussion and some memory loss, some stitches, a false tooth, and a fear of 360s…

Do you really push yourself to progress, or are you just happy to ride and not worry about it too much?
I think I just ride and get on with it. If I feel inspired to learn something then I’ll give it a go, but normally a chilled session is just fine.

Parts: new and radical or simple and trusted?
I reckon simple and trusted. Unless it’s a bloody good idea.

What is BMX / What does BMX mean to you?
BMX is… bikes, friends, exercise, pain, inspiration, style, individual, rewarding.

What the best thing you’ve ever done on a bike?
I reckon it’s still that 360 at Tweseldown.

What is your favourite memory of riding?
Velmead. Bremen. Bristol last time. Farnborough with Neil.

20 February, 2007

Some photos from farnborough the other day. Jason doing some tables on various stunt ramp plus a toboggan and a straaaaight lookdoon from me.

Jason's Fleetscene BMX questionnaire

Where / what would you like to ride most?
Street in London. Reason is that I love street and London just has more than any other place I’ve been too.

If you could have one trick, what would it be?
180-Barspin. This trick goes down so well on street.

What’s the best song, or use of a song, in a BMX video you’ve seen?
Vanilla Ice on Hoder’s section of facad, the funny dance he does is amazing and he sings along to it which is cool.

If you were to have a full-length video section, what song would you chose to accompany it?
Hikikomori Broadcast – One more Beautiful Friendship is kicked to sleep.

Besides their riding, which riders do you admire and why?
This is hard. Probably Nate Wessel, the first time I ever watched a BMX video he was in it and he seemed pretty cool and funny with his amazing dreads, ever watched the Hoffman game DVD? There’s a few scenes of Nate and Ruben having play fights and messing around loads, fun is what you need on a trip.

For their riding, Josh Bedford and Seth Kimbrough

Who has the best style in BMX?
Scotty Cranmer

What is your biggest fear, related to BMX?
Banging my head. Every time I got to do something on street I always think about Josh Bedford’s insane head banger on Voices, it scares me.

What’s your next banger? What have you got your eyes on?
In street it’s wallrides to 180. In park; turndowns.

BMX in the Olympics; good or bad?
Yes to Olympics although the Americans are disqualified. Having the Olympics may help us get a British Camp Woodward.

What were your riding highlights of 2006? What are your goals for 2007?
Not many really but the 180 down sports bar stair set was good, just made me feel so good after doing that, mainly relief because I’d been thinking about it for so so long.

Describe your worst crash.
Face smash at Fleet; I was tweaking the box when on landing my back wheel had no grip because it was so dusty. My wheel slipped out from under me and I went crashing down onto the concrete, needed 5 stitches in my chin and there was lots of blood.

Do you really push yourself to progress, or are you just happy to ride and not worry about it too much?
Bit of both, some days I really want to learn something so I’ll just go for it, other days when I’m not in the zone I’ll just casually ride and do stuff I know I can do with ease.

Parts: new and radical or simple and trusted?
Radical and trusted.

What is BMX / What does BMX mean to you?
If it wasn’t for BMX I would probably be the fattest kid in Fleet, BMX has allowed me to gain confidence in myself and helped me to keep fit. The sport gives the biggest high you can imagine, fuck drugs to get high get high on adrenaline it’s the best. What it’s also done for me is make friends, go places id never thought I’d go and things I’d thought I'd never do. BMX FOR LIFE

What the best thing you’ve ever done on a bike?
180 down an 8 set.

What is your favourite memory of riding?
Germany. Lots of riding and lots of drunkenness.

Tom, in a fridge, and Smith Grind at Arena skatepark.

Tom Mcconnell's Fleetscene Questionnaire

Intro:

I thought it would be cool for Tom to do the Fleetscene questionnaire. He's the guy I ride with most in Exeter, and has a riding style which involves trying to make everything sound like a car crash. Also, I spent more time correcting grammar and spelling for his answers than he did writing them.

Jokes aside, he's a cool chap, good rider, and pretty funny.

Ben

Name: Tom Mcconnell

1. Where / what would you like to ride most?
I want to take my bike across America crashing in strangers’ houses and in fields. They have so much violence and crime and stuff it would be cool and scary to do. Also, it would be cool to ride in places that tourists don’t go, the little villages and stuff.

2. If you could have one trick, what would it be?
Dunno, to have steel wrists? Or nose wheelie for ever. On steel wrists.

3. What’s the best song, or use of a song, in a BMX video you’ve seen?
What a weird question. There are probably quite a few. All the stuff in Joe Cox’s videos is good. Really well put together. With the exception of Marv’s section in Voices. I bastarding hate that song. Amazing rider shit music.

4. If you were to have a full-length video section, what song would you chose to accompany it?
Would have to be a toss up between piss angel by pig destroyer, a good drum and bass track or some dj shadow song that I heard once and never heard again. I wish I know what that song was. Maybe I have heard it since and it just didn’t have the same effect and I didn’t realise.

5. Besides their riding, which riders do you admire and why?
I’m going to be honest and say that I don’t really know that many professional riders to be able to tell if they are good people or not. As for riders I do know, Olb cause it’s always funny riding with him. Dad cause he is so different on a bike to off it. Josh cause he constantly amazes me and is well funny. I don’t really know anyone (other than one person, no names) who I wouldn’t want to ride with cause they are bad people.

6. Who has the best style in BMX?
Me.

7. What is your biggest fear, related to BMX?
That one day, probably soon, I will be too old and broken to keep riding. Untill that happens I will just keep going. I can feel my old man knee giving up on me at the moment.

8. What’s your next banger? What have you got your eyes on?
Probably lunch tomorrow, I love lunch, other than that, I have to get back on rails, I took a bit of a slam on one a while back and lost my balls a bit. So probably the Northcott rail followed by something new. Oh, that and there is the fucker of all roof gaps at my old school in Wimborne (Dorset) which I’m going to have one day. Three storeys up and about 12 feet gap. Will make the best photo on earth.

9. BMX in the Olympics; good or bad?
Bad, what’s the point? Snowboarding in the Olympics is gay enough. It would probably just be racing.

10. What were your riding highlights of 2006? What are your goals for 2007?
To be honest 2006 was my first year on childrens’ bikes so it was all pretty FB. But probably my first rail and my first clicked turndown. As for next year, find some good street somewhere? I dunno, just ride and have loads of fun. Maybe watch Joshy start some fights, that’s always a laugh.

11. Describe your worst crash.
Christ, I have had a few. I’m just trying to think of the one I lost the most skin on. Ok. Years ago me and my mate boggy (R.I.P.) were on our mountain bikes ripping down this hill, on a main road. We were tucked up like road riders holding onto our fork legs ‘cause it was funny. Boggy was ahead of me and clipped his handlebar on the bushes beside the road. We were doing about 35 at the time. He flipped over his bars, I tried to go for my brakes but before I could get my hands to the brakes I hit him while he was still sliding along the tarmac. My hands were off the bars, I went straight over and lost ALL the skin off my hands knees and ankles. Plus a car almost hit us too. Nuts, about 8 years ago and I still have the scars.

12. Do you really push yourself to progress, or are you just happy to ride and not worry about it too much?
Nah, progression is for pussies. I hate feeling like I’m pressured to perform. If someone eggs me on to do a trick or gap that I want to do that’s cool. But if someone is pushing you to do stuff you can’t be fucked with then that’s completely gay.

13. Parts: new and radical or simple and trusted
I like my parts strong. Regardless of weight, stop being a pussy and hop harder. But I do like my parts to be well made. Radical stuff can be ok but just don’t go sacrificing strength or performance, Odyssey.

14. What is BMX / What does BMX mean to you?
Bicycle Moto-Cross

15. What the best thing you’ve ever done on a bike?
Had fun. Bikes are just such a means of escape. The best think I ever did with a bike was learn to ride one. If I didn’t have my bike I don’t know where I would be. I would probably be a nervous wreck.

16. What is your favourite memory of riding?
I love street these days but for as long as I can remember my favourite thing about riding has been chilling out on my bike with my mates at sunset, either at some trials or at the top of a good downhill run. Probably my favourite was back when all my mates were real close and everything was easy, sitting around at the crappy sandy trails in Ringwood forest in the summer as the sun went down. No-one had cars, no one went to pubs, no-one did drugs. Just laughed at Drew’s girlfriend and at his silky smooth pantenne pro-v hair. perfect.

What BMXers in Australia do when they're not riding

Alright boys, haven't ridden my bike for 6 weeks now. Combination of travelling for a month, working loads, and losing my helmet ($150 fine for riding without a lid). Hopefully getting a new one next week but for now I leave you with a few surf pics:

Paddling for a wave

Nice clean Torquay surf

Surf camp in New South Wales

So buying a lid next week and some English riders that Sam knows are coming to town so will break the riding drought ASAP. Maybe even ride the elusive pool...

14 February, 2007

The first one: Nick Armstong's Fleetscene Questionnaire.

Where / what would you like to ride most?
Despite living in Derby I think I probably ride Fleet park the most, other than that it’s a few street spots around Derby – but not often enough. I’d like to ride some parks that don’t rely on braking too much and always like riding/finding new street spots. I’d like to go back to Manchester to ride Platfields park and have our camera for riding some of the street around there. Barca – Mecca.

If you could have one trick, what would it be?
I would say hang five over tooths down kinked rails but that’d be a lie… I’d like to have barspins whenever I wanted, on any thing.

What’s the best song, or use of a song, in a BMX video you’ve seen?
Sprung 3 trails section where the music is timed with the riding was amazing when I first saw it. I like Sinewave by Mogwai intro to Forward and the Spanish guitar track on Fly Uno’s intro.

If you were to have a full-length video section, what song would you chose to accompany it?
God forbid! I’d like The Stranglers – Duchess (do not use this track!) plus it’s just over 2minutes, there are only so many manuals you can watch.

Besides their riding, which riders do you admire and why?
I’ve come round to being a fan of Glen Milligan’s work. Wasn’t a fan of his videos pre dating Drop the Hammer but his later videos look a lot better. Joe Cox is still the best BMX editor in my opinion, his stuff looks too good. Derik Adams (Little Devil, Orchid) is the MAN. I also like Steve Banners(?) photography, he’s shit hot at riding too. Gav from Derby tells me lots of BMX industry stories. The four others from FleetScene, you all got stuff to offer.

Who has the best style in BMX?
Neil McGregor.

What is your biggest fear, related to BMX?
An injury that puts an end to riding. Tearing an ACL is not on my ‘to-do’ list either.

What’s your next banger? What have you got your eyes on?
Hop on to low brick ledge ride which leads to a 6ft gap, 3ft drop onto another ledge ride (both only a brick’s width). There’s a wedge launch over a rail in Manchester too.

BMX in the Olympics; good or bad?
Good. The more people involved in BMX, the more likely I’ll be able to get a job involved in it, fingers crossed.

What were your riding highlights of 2006? What are your goals for 2007?
Highlights were producing I Heart Barca, continuing, if a little slowly, with Carve and getting to know some of the Derby riders a bit better. Riding wise, just gradually getting better at riding. Gaining more bike control along with learning the occasional new stunt.

Describe your worst crash.
I guess I don’t really crash badly that often. Landing on my injured arm in Barca sucked and that fence trails in crash in Derby had my neck aching for days after. Thankfully not really had any McGregor M3 big set style crashes.

Do you really push yourself to progress, or are you just happy to ride and not worry about it too much?
Progress slowly not massively fussed but wouldn’t mind some of that lack of fear and natural talent you Pearson’s seem to possess.

Parts: new and radical or simple and trusted?
Always weary of new ways of solving things but tend to end up coming around to them in the end. Still rocking 14mm front axles though.

What is BMX / What does BMX mean to you?
I could probably write a page on what BMX means to me. It is my life, I hope it will continue to be my life for many more years. It’s all I talk about, think about and enjoy. I can’t really think of other sports that give you the same kind of lifestyle that makes you meet the people you do, travel to the places you go to and encourages creativity relating to it.

What the best thing you’ve ever done on a bike?
I’m not sure, maybe someone else is better off answering this. I don’t think there’s a lot of choice for this answer haha! Farnborough quarter to quarter wallride.

What is your favourite memory of riding?
Riding back in the day.
Farnham bmx track.
Berlin.
Barcelona.
Summer days, learning new stuff, being with your mates, riding, eating, drinking, watching videos, talking shit.

Not loving uni much at the moment but from what Ive heard youre not meant to enjoy your final year. Display stand for Odyssey, crap view but looks nice in the real thing, if you can count a CAD file as 'the real thing'.

Im not sure why Leo put the under flat, slightly bowed photo on DeviantArt, but Im not sure why Leo does a lot of things he does. Excuse the blatant arse shot of a table from the only angle that you could possibly take a table photo from(!)

A few too many bitch hops, but fair play.

Another cool as funk session today.
Did three flatland whips, dunno what all the fuss is about... JOKES JOKES. But seriously, I fancy taking them to banks and stuff. Also started taking photos again, using the old Minolta, as the Canon is a bit frigged.

Snapped Marcus trying to alley-oop the quarter to bank gap in Exeter's flowerpots skatepark, he was going super-high then bailing, but he's had it before. Anyhow he broke his frame. Shit son. Josh also had a cool stunt; x-down wallrides. Fair play. As soon as my roll of Ilford XP2 400 makes it's way trough some chemicals, I'll get the stuff up on here.

Love BMX, don't think my park riding's ever been better, and it's all since being brakeless. Blat.
